Bu Yunchaokete, Emilio Nava, Carlos Gimeno, Carlos Alcaraz and Mario Vilella, the players who have made their debut in this five-year period with the prestigious academy.
With the triumph of Bu Yunchaokete in Seoul, the Academy can continue to boast and it is no wonder, Bu joins the brilliant list of players from the Academy who have won a challenger category trophy. The Academy has been training professional tennis players for 25 years and has a long list of ATP and ATP Challenger trophies (Carreño Busta, Almagro, Torró, García López…). However, a very notable fact about the good work that the Academy has done, since Juan Carlos Ferrero took over the sports management, is that for 5 consecutive years they have managed to get one of their players to make their debut as a champion on the ATP circuit.
We review the list of Ferrero Players who have made their debut in this last five-year period.
Yunchaokete Bu, Emilio Nava, Carlos Gimeno, Carlos Alcaraz and Mario Vilella.
2023 – Yunchaokete Bu arrived at the academy a year ago with the world ranking of 600, Bu has been working hard at the academy all year and represents China in the Davis Cup.
Bu has currently been crowned champion of the Seoul Challenger 125. All the work of the year has been reflected in the tournament in which Bu, from the quarterfinals, did not give up a set.
Right now he is ranked 140 in the RACE and is qualified to play the Next ATP GENS Finals.
2022 – The American player Emilio Nava has been under the orders of the academy since his junior stage. Nava reached the top 5 of the junior world ranking and was a finalist at the Australian Open and the US Open juniors in 2019. He also continues to work at the Academy and progress in the professional ranking. After winning his first Challenger in Shymkent, he has been climbing the rankings and is currently ranked 174th. Emilio recently won in the 1st Round of the Miami Masters 1000 against veteran John Isner.
2021 – Carlos Gimeno put himself in the hands of the Academy in September 2021 as one of the young Spaniards with the most potential, after a very good preseason, he won his first challenger in Gran Canaria in March at just 19 years old.
After this great achievement and rapid rise, the results have not been as spectacular.
In the same summer of 2022 he left the Academy but it is still expected that he will be able to demonstrate the great tennis he has by reaching professionalism.
2020 – After the break in professional competition due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Carlos Alcaraz returned to competition with great enthusiasm. That year he not only managed to win his first challenger in Tieste, but he also won two others (Barcelona and the one at the academy itself) and ended the year on the threshold of the TOP 100.
2019 – Mario Vilella has been training at the academy since he was very young. In 2019 he made the leap to the World Top with his victory in the Prague challenger. After a great start to the season, where he qualified for the Australian Open, he decided to leave the Academy in May. Although he continued to have good results, he finally decided to change his way of life and leave professional tennis.
